Lead vocalist, Prema Yin is no stranger to the music industry in Malaysia. Having launched her EP, “Eyo Eyo” in August 2009, she has thus received great reviews from the local media. The press has dubbed her as the upcoming “Rock Princess” of Malaysia.
She was the winner for NTV7’s Malaysian Topstar in 2004. Although she was awarded a recording contract, she declined the offer and dived straight into building her experience and knowledge in the music scene. She got herself involved first in the pub and underground scene, and later joined Aseana Percussion Unit, a percussion band for 3 years. She has performed in big festivals like Sunburst Festival, Sunrise Jazz Festival, Sarawak Rainforest Festival as well as overseas (China for the Zhu Jia Jia Water Village Festival, Singapore Arts Festival)
Her major influences vary from the work of great musicians notably like Aerosmith, Janis Joplin, Guano Apes, to Micheal Jackson and newer acts like Paramore.
The singer/songwriter and performer has performed with international acts like Colbie Caillat, known for her hit song, “Bubbly” and John Ford Coley, as well as local acts ranging from veteran greats to big artists like Jaclyn Victor, Ash Nair, Zainal Abidin etc
Before MON9 came together, Prema Yin was actively pushing her own music and making waves for herself. Her song, Eyo Eyo was played on high rotation on major radio stations (Fly.fm, Hitz.fm, Hot.fm, Xfresh, Era and Traxx.fm) and has appeared on countless national TV shows. “Eyo Eyo” even managed to make its way to Germany where it was played on N-Joy, one of Germany’s biggest radio stations.
